It was a fascinating glimpse into the universe that gave us the Lord High Warlock. Seeing some of the traits that make Rod such a unique character in another guise was such fun! The Count brazenly manipulating while pretending to allow his family to control him was absolutely the sort thing Rod does. And the glimpses of mad genius were excellent. So many times I'd find myself thinking "Oh, that's where it comes from."And I loved the Count starting Rod out, lusting for adventure and possibility. That the world the Count is "chronicling" seemed a near reflect of the planet Rod would spent his life fighting for was a wonderful touch. It was a wonderful peek into a beginning we didn't realize was there.

Is a nice short story about Rob’s grandfather. Is the old man crazy, tired of the robot rat race, or something else. It is up to you to decide. Pick up if you a fan.
Interesting relationships developed in such a short story...only wish it were longer, deeper, and more developed, but then it would have kept me up even later.
I liked the background on how one of the grandsons got so attached to his grandfather and some of his memories of the stories that his grandather told. This little vignette from when he was a young child really did make it clear how much he loved his grandfather, the stories, and how they influenced him when he grew up....but you'll have to read the series for yourself!
I'm reading this story after reading the series and it explained alot. The grandfather have Rod the strength to be himself. Without him we wouldn't have stories that follows. I enjoyed this story. And tonight I'm going to reread all the others. Thanks Christopher, you are one of my favorite authors.
